Really, Microsoft?
There’s a little thing in the browser called a User Agent String. It tells the website and its advertisers what type of browser and operating system you are using. They use it to target ads, and some of the smarter websites use it to feed different pages to different browsers. This is how you get a mobile site on your iPhone or Android phone, among other things.
Microsoft is obviously ignoring the User Agent. Trying to feed me IE 9 on a Mac running Chrome is wasted ad money. Even if I could download Internet Explorer 9, I wouldn’t. But I can’t. They don’t make it for Mac.

As of February, the FCC has killed analog cell phone service. The obvious question is, “Who cares?”
Happy Birthday iPhone
Happy Birthday iPhone - In June. Why the early celebration? On March 6th (a week late, I might add), Steve Jobs from Apple had another event. This time, he introduced a roadmap for the iPhone Software Development Kit (SDK). I’m a little disappointed, I must say. Last fall, he promised the SDK would be out in February, and now he comes out the 6th day of March and says the third party apps won’t be ready until June.
The iPhone is my gadget of the year, easily.
I know, more iPhone talk. I’m thinking of making a whole section about it. But this is the end of the year, and this is the best thing I spent money on all year. The iPhone is my gadget of the year, easily.

Can internet video streaming services replace your digital video recorder?
The short answer is, oh yeah! But not yet. After trying a couple of free – that’s right, FREE- services, I can see what all the hoopla is about.
